Congratulations! You have made it through another year!

The hope and promise that comes with a new beginning is the perfect time to refocus on health and beauty. Here are some easy tips to help 2012 be your most amazing year yet.

1. Be sweet to yourself
No more negative self talk. Imagine how wonderful it would feel to remove your own worst critic from your life. Telling ourselves that we aren't good enough to achieve our goals leads us to a self fulfilling prophecy. So next time you catch yourself mentally berating your good intentions switch up your inner dialogue with a positive mantra like “I can learn from the past. I am ready to transform my health. I know I can do this!” You will feel more confident and inspired to face your daily challenges.

2. Beauty really does come from within
It's not all about having the best moisturizer. Choosing to eat the right foods will give your skin a luminous glow. Fill your pantry with luscious fruits. Cook more meals at home. Stay away from anything processed. Use stevia as a sweetener instead of sugar. And drink more water!




3. Out with the old in with the new
Make room for something good to come into your life by getting rid of what you don't use or need. Clean out your closet and dresser. If you haven't worn something in a year, get rid of it! (One exception: hang on to your vintage dress collection.) Go through your make up and toss old mascara, foundation, eyeliner and any skin care product more than a year old. Clean your make up brushes. Once you have purged yourself of all this excess you can reassess what you really need and then treat yourself to a few new things.

4. Get your beauty sleep
Getting adequate sleep is the best way to help your body and mind function. Proper sleep will improve your mood and make you feel energized. Our bodies repair themselves and calcium is added to our bones as we sleep. Make sure your bedroom is a cozy little nest where you can nurture yourself by getting the rest you need.

5. Walk the walk
Walking is an excellent form of cardio and a completely realistic form of excercise that anyone can commit to. Even 15 minutes a day can enhance your quality of life. Make it fun. Bundle up and walk through the park, make a walking date with a friend, use your daily walk as a meditation to reaffirm your positive aspirations. Try it for a week. Not only will you feel amazing but your jeans will fit better too!



Don't sweat the small stuff. Find the humor in life's difficulties. Laughter really is good medicine. Surround yourself with sparkly self love and let 2012 be wonderful.
